Tropical Storm Warning for Coastal Wakulla: Life-Threatening Conditions
Coastal Wakulla is under a Tropical Storm Warning, with immediate threats of life-threatening storm surge, major flooding, and tornadoes; residents must remain sheltered and heed all warnings.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Coastal Wakulla, including Saint Marks and Panacea, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee. This warning is in effect from October 9 at 5:05 PM EDT until October 10 at 1:15 AM UTC.
Residents in surge-prone areas must remain sheltered in a safe location due to the potential for life-threatening storm surge of 4-6 feet above ground through Saturday morning. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete, and evacuees should be in shelters well away from storm surge flooding. Do not venture outside.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with additional rainfall of 3-6 inches expected, potentially causing major flooding, evacuations, and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings. A Tornado Watch is also in effect, with conditions favorable for many tornadoes. If a tornado warning is issued, shelter quickly.
Peak winds are forecast to be 25-35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. While sustained winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force, conditions may still be gusty. Assess local impacts and listen for instructions from local officials. For more information, visit NWS Tallahassee, Florida Division of Emergency Management, or Wakulla County Emergency Management.
