Dense Fog Advisory for Central Copper Valley Until 10 AM AKDT
A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for Central Copper Valley, including Gulkana and north, until 10:00 AM AKDT today, October 7, 2026, warning of hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility and potential black ice.
Residents in the Central Copper Valley, specifically Gulkana and areas north, are advised to exercise extreme caution when driving this morning due to a Dense Fog Advisory issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Anchorage AK.
The advisory is in effect until 10:00 AM AKDT today, October 7, 2026. Visibility is reduced to one-quarter mile or less in dense fog. The NWS warns that the combination of fog and sub-freezing temperatures may lead to slippery road conditions and patchy black ice, particularly along the Richardson Highway.
If driving, the NWS instructs motorists to slow down, use their headlights, and maintain ample distance between vehicles. Drivers should also be alert for frost on bridge decks and roadways, which can cause slippery conditions. The fog is expected to lift later this morning.
