Beach Hazards: Stay Out of Lake Superior Water Today
A Beach Hazards Statement is in effect for Minnesota Park Point and Wisconsin Point Beaches today, urging people to stay out of Lake Superior due to dangerous waves and rip currents.
A Beach Hazards Statement has been issued for Minnesota Park Point and Wisconsin Point Beaches, effective from noon today, September 26, until 10:00 PM CDT this evening. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Duluth, MN, advises residents and visitors in the Carlton/South St. Louis and Douglas areas to remain out of Lake Superior due to dangerous swimming conditions.
High wave action and strong rip currents are expected, creating life-threatening conditions. The NWS explicitly warns against entering the water and urges individuals to stay away from hazardous areas such as piers and breakwalls. These conditions pose a significant risk to swimmers and anyone near the shoreline.
This advisory is in effect for the entirety of today's daylight hours, expiring tonight. Please heed all warnings and prioritize safety by avoiding the affected beach areas and the water.
