Fire Weather Statement Issued: Check Burning Restrictions Today

A Special Weather Statement has been issued for multiple counties, warning of near critical fire weather conditions today due to dry conditions and breezy winds; residents are urged to check burning restrictions.

Residents in North St. Louis, Northern Cook/Northern Lake, North Itasca, Central St. Louis, North Cass, South Itasca, South Cass, Crow Wing, Northern Aitkin, Carlton/South St. Louis, and Pine counties are advised to check burning restrictions due to near critical fire weather conditions expected today, October 10th.

A Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Duluth, MN at 2:15 AM CDT warns of dry conditions and breezy winds. South winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 25 to 35 mph are anticipated, alongside minimum relative humidity values of 35 percent. These combined factors could lead to the rapid spread of any fires that ignite.

This statement is effective immediately and expires at 11:00 AM CDT today, October 10th. Before any burning activities, the NWS urges the public to check local burning restrictions and current fire danger ratings.
