A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for the San Diego County Inland Valleys, including Escondido, El Cajon, Lakeside, and Poway, effective October 9 at 1:57 PM PDT. The National Weather Service San Diego CA warns of potential hazardous wind and extensive flooding rain.

Residents should immediately begin efforts to protect property and complete preparations before hazardous winds arrive. Winds are forecast to reach 20-30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, with a potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. This could cause damage to unanchored structures, break large tree limbs, and lead to scattered power outages. Hazardous driving conditions, especially on elevated roadways, are also possible.

A Flood Watch is also in effect. Emergency plans should include the potential for major flooding from approximately 1 inch of rainfall. Evacuations and rescues are likely, and residents in flood-vulnerable areas should strongly consider protective actions. Flood waters could enter numerous structures, cause many road closures, and make driving extremely dangerous. Rivers and tributaries may rapidly overflow. Heed all flood watches and warnings, as failure to take action could result in serious injury or loss of life.
