An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for San Diego County Coastal Areas until Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 PM PDT, with dangerously hot conditions expected.
San Diego County residents in coastal areas are advised to prepare for dangerously hot conditions. The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego has issued an Extreme Heat Warning, effective immediately, October 7, at 11:47 AM PDT, until Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 PM PDT.
High temperatures are expected to reach the low 80s to low 90s at beaches, with inland coastal areas and mesas experiencing temperatures in the upper 90s. Overnight lows will remain warm, in the low 70s.
The NWS emphasizes that heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. Residents are instructed to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and remain out of direct sunlight. Please check on relatives and neighbors, especially those vulnerable to heat.
It is critical that young children and pets are never left in unattended vehicles, as interior temperatures can become lethal within minutes.
