A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Choctaw County, effective immediately as of October 9 at 6:53 PM CDT. Residents in Butler, Lisman, and Silas should prepare for hazardous winds and potential moderate flooding.
The National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL warns of peak wind gusts up to 45 mph, with potential sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. All remaining efforts to protect property should be completed as soon as possible. Move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous. Impacts could include damage to sheds and mobile homes, broken tree limbs, and scattered power outages. Hazardous driving conditions are possible on bridges.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 1 inch of rain expected. This could lead to moderate flooding, prompting evacuations and rescues. Rivers and creeks may overflow, and floodwaters could enter some structures. Heed all flood watches and warnings. Failure to take action may result in serious injury or loss of life.
