A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for South Walton, effective immediately, by the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, FL. This extreme warning impacts Santa Rosa Beach, Sandestin, and Freeport. Residents are urged to take immediate action, including potential evacuation, due to life-threatening conditions.

Life-threatening storm surge of 4-7 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. The NWS indicates a potential for flooding greater than 6 feet above ground. If evacuation orders are given for your area, leave immediately to avoid being cut off from emergency services. Significant structural damage and extensive deep inundation are expected, making areas potentially uninhabitable for an extended period.

Dangerous tropical storm force winds of 35-45 mph, with gusts up to 70 mph, are expected from Friday afternoon until early Saturday morning. Prepare for significant wind damage to roofs, siding, and mobile homes, and potential power outages. Move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous. A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 3-6 inches of rain expected, leading to potential major flooding. Additionally, conditions are favorable for several tornadoes, with some possibly intense. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly.
