A Storm Surge Watch has been issued for South Walton, including Santa Rosa Beach, Sandestin, and Freeport, by NWS Tallahassee, urging residents to prepare for potential evacuations due to life-threatening storm surge of 4-7 feet, significant winds, and major flooding rain from Friday morning through early Saturday.
A Storm Surge Watch has been issued for South Walton, effective today, October 7, at 2:00 PM EDT by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee. This alert indicates a severe and life-threatening storm surge is possible, with potential inundation of 4-7 feet above ground, and a threat for flooding greater than 6 feet above ground. Evacuation preparations should be underway for residents in Santa Rosa Beach, Sandestin, and Freeport.
