Rip Current Warning for Charleston County Until 8 PM Tonight

A Rip Current Statement is in effect for Charleston County until 8:00 PM EDT tonight, October 11, warning of dangerous rip currents and advising swimmers on safety measures.

Staff Writer
10/11/2026 · Charleston County edition

Charleston County residents and visitors are advised of a Rip Current Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Charleston SC, effective until 8:00 PM EDT this evening, October 11.

Dangerous rip currents are present in Charleston County. Rip currents can swiftly carry even experienced swimmers away from the shore into deeper water.

The NWS strongly recommends swimming near a lifeguard. If you find yourself caught in a rip current, remain calm and float. Do not attempt to swim against the current. If possible, swim parallel to the shoreline to escape the current. If you are unable to escape, face the shore and signal for help by calling out or waving.

This statement is in effect for Charleston County until 8:00 PM EDT on October 11, 2026.
