Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Lower St. Bernard Parish
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Lower St. Bernard, including Yscloskey, Delacroix, and Shell Beach, with life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet possible through Saturday morning. Residents must remain sheltered.
Residents in Lower St. Bernard, specifically Yscloskey, Delacroix, and Shell Beach, are urged to remain sheltered due to a Tropical Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans LA at 4:00 PM CDT today, October 9.
Life-threatening storm surge of 3 to 5 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete, and evacuees should be in shelters well away from surge flooding. Do not venture outside.
While peak wind forecasts are below tropical storm force at 25-35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, conditions may still be gusty. Little to no additional wind impacts are expected, but residents should ensure emergency readiness should the forecast change. Community officials are currently assessing realized wind impacts.
