A Storm Surge Watch has been issued for Lower St. Bernard, including Yscloskey, Delacroix, and Shell Beach, by the National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans, LA, effective October 7 at 10:12 AM CDT. Life-threatening inundation of 3-5 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Residents in surge-prone areas should immediately finalize storm surge preparations, assemble disaster supplies, and know their evacuation routes. Leave if evacuation orders are issued, as failure to do so could result in loss of life.

A Tropical Storm Watch is also in effect. Peak winds of 25-35 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are expected, but there is a potential for winds of 58 to 73 mph. Prepare for significant wind damage to property, including roofing, siding, and mobile homes. Unsecured objects will become dangerous projectiles. Power and communication outages are likely. Secure loose outdoor items now.

Localized flooding from 1-3 inches of rain is possible, with a few tornadoes also in the forecast. Monitor official channels for updates. For more information, visit gohsep.la.gov/emergency. This alert expires October 7 at 6:15 PM UTC.
