Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Lower St. Bernard Parish

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Lower St. Bernard Parish, including Yscloskey, Delacroix, and Shell Beach, with hazardous winds and life-threatening storm surge expected to begin Friday morning.

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Lower St. Bernard Parish, effective immediately, by the National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans, LA. This warning covers Yscloskey, Delacroix, and Shell Beach. Residents in these areas should complete all preparations for hazardous wind and life-threatening storm surge flooding by Friday morning.

Wind speeds are forecast between 25-35 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph, and the potential for stronger winds of 39 to 57 mph. Damage to unsecured items, tree limbs, and some power outages are possible. Efforts to protect property should be underway now. Act quickly to secure outdoor items before hazardous winds arrive.

Life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuation efforts and flood preparations should be completed soon. If evacuation orders are given for your area, leave immediately to avoid being cut off from emergency services. This surge could cause significant damage to buildings near the coast, weaken roads, and lead to major marsh erosion.
