A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Lower St. Bernard Parish, including Yscloskey, Delacroix, and Shell Beach, effective immediately. The National Weather Service in New Orleans reports a potential for life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground, with the window of concern from Friday morning until Saturday morning.

Residents in these areas should complete all flood preparations and evacuation efforts now. If evacuation orders are issued for your area, leave immediately to ensure your safety and access to emergency services.

Winds are forecast to be below tropical storm force, with peak winds of 25-35 mph and gusts up to 40 mph. Hazardous wind conditions of tropical storm force are possible, which could lead to limited damage to property, tree limbs, and some road obstructions. Scattered power and communication outages are also possible. Act now to secure loose objects.

Localized flooding from heavy rain is possible. Heed any flood watches and warnings. Tornadoes are not expected at this time. For more information and updates, visit https://gohsep.la.gov/emergency.
