Two Men Arrested on DUI Charges in Cape Coral

Cape Coral police arrested Andrew Konchek III, 41, and Kevin Reardon, 37, on DUI charges June 12 after officers spotted them swapping seats at a 7-Eleven near Palm Tree Boulevard and Cape Coral Parkway.
An anonymous caller reported a white Jeep Gladiator driving recklessly westbound on Cape Coral Parkway, swerving and nearly hitting other vehicles. Officers found the Jeep parked at the gas station and watched Konchek move from the passenger seat to the driver's seat, drive to another pump, then return to the passenger seat. Reardon then took the driver's seat and left the station.
Officers followed the vehicle and observed it weaving out of its lane, drifting into the bike lane twice, and nearly striking the sidewalk before stopping it on SE 1st Place.
When officers approached the driver's window, they smelled alcohol and noted Reardon had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech, and unsteady movement. Reardon completed field sobriety evaluations and was arrested. Officers observed similar signs of impairment in Konchek and arrested him after he completed evaluations.
During the arrest, Konchek tensed his arms and refused commands to release his grip. Officers took him to the ground to complete the handcuffing. Police found a bottle of New Amsterdam Vodka beneath the driver's seat during an inventory search.
Both men refused breath tests. Konchek faces DUI, refusal to submit to DUI testing, and resisting arrest without violence. Reardon faces DUI and refusal to submit to DUI testing. Both were transported to Lee County Jail.
