Residents in the Parker Valley, Gila River Valley, Palo Verde Valley, and Chuckwalla Valley are advised to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Phoenix AZ. This warning is effective immediately, October 8, 2026, at 12:33 PM MST, and will remain in effect until 8:00 PM MST /8:00 PM PDT/ this evening.

Dangerously hot conditions are possible, with afternoon temperatures expected to reach 102 to 106 degrees Fahrenheit, posing a major heat risk. Overexposure can lead to heat cramps and heat exhaustion, and without intervention, can escalate to heat stroke. Heat stroke is an emergency; call 911 immediately if someone is overcome by heat and move them to a cool, shaded location.

The NWS advises rescheduling strenuous outdoor activities to early morning or evening hours. When outdoors, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing and drink plenty of water. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments for those working outside. Public cooling shelters may be available; consult county officials for details.
