Residents in unincorporated Hillsborough County can now file certain police reports online through the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) website. The new service offers a convenient option for non-emergency incidents.
To use the online system, reports must be for incidents that occurred within unincorporated Hillsborough County. Residents of Plant City, Tampa, and Temple Terrace must contact their respective police departments. The reporting party must be at least 18 years old, and the incident cannot be an emergency, an in-progress crime, or involve immediate danger.
The online portal accepts reports for incidents including minor traffic collisions, animal complaints, check forgery, conservation violations, credit/debit card fraud, failure to return rental vehicles, fuel theft, harassing communications, identity theft, immigration scams, missing property (not stolen items), online/phone scams, package theft, self-checkout scams, shoplifting/retail theft, theft from outside a building, vandalism, and vehicle vandalism.
After submission, residents will see a confirmation message and receive a confirmation email. The HCSO reviews all online reports. An officer may contact the reporting party if further investigation is needed. The HCSO non-emergency line is (813) 247-8200. Call 911 for all emergencies.
Individuals needing an official copy of an online report can visit the Records Request Center. These reports require a 36-hour processing time for review and transcription. Residents can also add information to an existing report, filed online or in person, by providing the report number or officer's name. If an incident does not fit the online report categories, residents should call the HCSO non-emergency number.
