Winter Storm Warning Issued for Gallatin Valley: Heavy Snow Expected
A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Gallatin Valley, effective Sunday, October 11, at 6 PM MDT, expecting 4 to 8 inches of heavy, wet snow and potential power outages; travel will be difficult.
GALLATIN VALLEY – Residents of Gallatin Valley should prepare for a Winter Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Great Falls MT, effective from Sunday, October 11, at 6 PM MDT until Monday, October 12, at 9 AM MDT. This warning anticipates heavy, wet snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches.
Before the Winter Storm Warning, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until Sunday, October 11, at 6 PM MDT, with up to two inches of wet snow and wind gusts as high as 40 mph.
Impacts include potentially very difficult travel conditions. Gusty winds combined with the heavy, wet snow may bring down tree branches, and isolated power outages are possible. The NWS advises that these hazardous conditions will affect the Monday morning commute.
