A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the Big Belt, Bridger, and Castle Mountains, effective from 6 PM this evening until 6 AM MDT Monday, October 12. The National Weather Service in Great Falls, MT, warns of heavy, wet snow and difficult travel conditions.

Residents in the affected mountain ranges should prepare for total snow accumulations between 6 and 14 inches. Winds are expected to gust as high as 40 mph. These conditions could lead to tree branch damage and isolated power outages due to the heavy, wet snow.

Travel is expected to be very difficult. If travel is unavoidable, the NWS advises keeping an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. For the latest road conditions, dial 511.
