Winter Weather Advisory Issued: Snow and Hazardous Travel Expected
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until Monday, October 12, at 6:00 AM MDT for several areas, with snow and gusty winds expected to create hazardous travel conditions and potential power outages.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service in Great Falls, MT, effective immediately until Monday, October 12, at 6:00 AM MDT. Residents in the Canyon Ferry Area, Northwest Beaverhead County, Beaverhead and Western Madison below 6000ft, Ruby Mountains and Southern Beaverhead Mountains, and Gallatin and Madison County Mountains and Centennial Mountains should prepare for difficult travel conditions.
Forecasts indicate additional snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches across lower elevations, with up to 7 inches possible in mountainous areas. Gusty winds reaching 35 mph are also expected. These conditions could lead to downed tree branches and isolated power outages due to the wet and heavy nature of the snow.
Motorists are advised to slow down and use caution while traveling. For the latest road conditions, residents can call 511. Snowfall amounts on roadways, particularly at lower elevations, are expected to be most significant from this evening through late morning.
