Protect Pipes & Plants: Freeze Watch for Northern Owens Valley
A Freeze Watch has been issued for the Northern Owens Valley from late tonight, October 12, until Tuesday morning, October 13, with sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 degrees Fahrenheit expected.
Residents in the Northern Owens Valley should prepare immediately for sub-freezing temperatures. A Freeze Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service Las Vegas NV, effective from late tonight, October 12, until Tuesday morning, October 13 at 10:00 AM PDT.
Temperatures as low as 30 degrees Fahrenheit are possible. These conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. Unprotected outdoor plumbing may also be damaged.
To protect tender plants from the cold, take steps now to cover them or bring them indoors. To prevent water pipes from freezing, the National Weather Service advises wrapping them, draining them, or allowing them to drip slowly.
This Freeze Watch was issued at 4:56 AM PDT on October 12 and remains in effect for the specified period. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
