A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Lower Plaquemines, including Port Sulphur, Empire, and Venice, by the National Weather Service New Orleans, LA, effective immediately as of October 8 at 10:01 PM CDT. This warning remains in effect until October 9, 2026, at 6:15 AM UTC.
Residents in these areas should prepare for life-threatening storm surge flooding of 3-5 feet above ground through Saturday morning. Evacuation efforts and flood preparations must be completed immediately as conditions will soon become unsafe. If evacuation orders are given for your area, leave immediately to avoid being cut off from emergency services.
Hazardous winds of 25-35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are also expected. Move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous.
