A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Lower Plaquemines, including Port Sulphur, Empire, and Venice, effective immediately as of October 8 at 10:01 PM CDT, according to the National Weather Service in New Orleans. Residents should complete property protection efforts now and move to safe shelter before hazardous winds arrive.

Life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning. These conditions can cause limited damage to porches, awnings, and unanchored mobile homes, along with broken tree limbs and some downed trees. Scattered power and communications outages are possible. Hazardous driving conditions are expected on bridges and elevated roadways.

No additional significant rainfall or tornadoes are currently expected. For more information and to monitor changes, visit gohsep.la.gov/emergency. This warning expires October 9 at 6:15 AM UTC.
