A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Southern Hancock, including Kiln, Pearlington, Bay St. Louis, Diamondhead, and Waveland, by the National Weather Service New Orleans, LA, effective immediately until Saturday morning. This is an Extreme severity alert with immediate urgency.
Life-threatening storm surge of 3 to 5 feet above ground is possible in surge-prone areas. All flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete. Evacuees must be in shelters well away from storm surge flooding. Residents in affected areas should remain sheltered in a safe location and not venture outside. Wind speeds are forecast to be below tropical storm force, with peak gusts up to 40 mph. While significant wind impacts are not expected, conditions may still be gusty. There is little to no potential for flooding rain or tornadoes.
