Coastal Bay faces life-threatening storm surge and winds with gusts up to 80 mph; shelter immediately as NWS Tallahassee issues extreme urgency warning until Saturday morning.

Coastal Bay residents, including Panama City, Panama City Beach, Mexico Beach, Lynn Haven, and Bayou George, are currently under a Storm Surge Warning with extreme urgency, effective immediately. The National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee issued this warning on October 9 at 10:57 PM EDT. Immediate sheltering is required.

Life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning. Wind gusts up to 80 mph are expected through the next few hours. Residents should shelter in place from dangerous winds starting now. Flood Watch remains in effect with potential for major rainfall flooding, likely prompting evacuations and rescues. Do not venture outside. If a tornado warning is issued, move quickly to the safest place within your shelter. The alert is effective until October 10, 2026, 7:00 AM UTC.
