Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Inland Bay: Prepare Immediately

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Inland Bay, including Youngstown and Fountain, with immediate preparations advised for significant wind, major flooding, and potential tornadoes.

Staff Writer
10/09/2026 · Bay County edition

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Inland Bay, affecting Youngstown and Fountain, effective immediately as of October 9 at 8:28 AM EDT by NWS Tallahassee FL. Residents must complete all remaining preparations for dangerous conditions as soon as possible. The warning expires October 9 at 4:30 PM UTC.

Significant wind impacts are anticipated, with peak gusts up to 45 mph and potential for winds reaching 58 to 73 mph. Expect damage to roofing, siding, porches, and sheds. Mobile homes, especially unanchored ones, are at risk. Large trees may snap or uproot, and roads could become impassable due to debris. Scattered power and communications outages are likely. Move to safe shelter before hazardous winds arrive.

A Flood Watch is in effect, with an additional 3-6 inches of rain expected, potentially leading to major flooding. Evacuations and rescues are likely, with rivers and tributaries overflowing their banks and floodwaters entering structures. Heed all flood watches and warnings.

The situation is favorable for several tornadoes, some potentially intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats must relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if issued.

There is little to no threat of storm surge inundation. For more information, visit NWS Tallahassee, Florida Division of Emergency Management, or Bay County Emergency Management.
