Coastal Bay residents, including Panama City, Panama City Beach, Mexico Beach, Lynn Haven, and Bayou George, are under an Extreme Storm Surge Warning issued by NWS Tallahassee FL as of October 9 at 11:05 AM EDT. Life-threatening conditions are immediate.
Shelter immediately from life-threatening wind and storm surge. Tropical Storm force winds of 40-50 mph with gusts up to 75 mph are expected until early Saturday morning, with the potential for hurricane-force winds of 74 to 110 mph. All ordered evacuations for storm surge should be complete. If you are in a surge-prone area, remain sheltered in a safe location and move to upper floors if water rises. The potential for 4-7 feet of storm surge above ground is forecast, with the threat of greater than 6 feet above ground.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with an additional 3-6 inches of rain expected, leading to potential major flooding, evacuations, and rescues. Many tornadoes are also possible, with the threat having increased. Stay informed and move to the safest place within your shelter if a tornado warning is issued.
