A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Barbour County, including Eufaula, by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL, effective immediately as of October 8 at 10:27 PM CDT. This warning indicates severe conditions are expected, with urgency for immediate action.

Residents in affected areas should finalize preparations now. Hazardous winds are anticipated, with peak gusts up to 40 mph and potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Damage to outdoor property, tree limbs, and some power outages are possible. Efforts to protect property should be underway.

A Flood Watch is in effect, with 2-4 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. This may lead to moderate flooding, prompting evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act may result in serious injury or loss of life.

The NWS also indicates a favorable situation for tornadoes, with a potential for several, some possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should seek safer shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued. This warning expires October 9 at 6:30 AM UTC. For more information, visit ready.gov/hurricanes.
