A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Barbour County, including Eufaula, starting immediately, bringing hazardous winds, potential moderate flooding, and a risk of several tornadoes.

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Barbour County, specifically affecting Eufaula, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Birmingham AL. This warning is effective immediately, as of October 9 at 6:57 AM CDT, and expires at 3:00 PM UTC on the same day.

Residents should act now to complete preparations for hazardous wind. Peak wind forecasts are 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, but there is potential for winds of 39 to 57 mph. Limited damage to porches, awnings, unanchored mobile homes, and trees is possible, along with scattered power outages. Hazardous driving conditions are expected.

A Flood Watch is also in effect with 2-4 inches of rain predicted, locally higher. This could lead to moderate flooding, rapid inundation in low-lying areas, and hazardous driving. Heed all flood watches and warnings; evacuations and rescues are possible.

The situation is favorable for tornadoes, with potential for several, some possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should prepare to relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued. Significant tornado impacts are possible, including extensive damage and power loss.
