Wind Advisory Issued: Gusts Up To 50 MPH Expected Through Monday Morning
A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Indian Wells Valley, Mojave Desert, and Mojave Desert Slopes from Sunday afternoon until Monday morning, with gusts up to 50 mph expected to impact travel and potentially cause power outages.
Residents in the Indian Wells Valley, Mojave Desert, and Mojave Desert Slopes should prepare for a Wind Advisory issued by the National Weather Service Hanford CA. Southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected to begin this afternoon, Sunday, October 11, at 2 PM PDT, and continue until Monday, October 12, at 8 AM PDT.
These strong winds can make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Extra caution is advised for anyone on the roads, especially on US Highway 395, and State Routes 14, 58, and 178, which are expected to be impacted.
Community members should secure any loose outdoor objects to prevent them from blowing away. The strong winds may also cause tree limbs to fall and could result in scattered power outages. Stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during this period.
