Extreme Heat Warning Issued for Orange County Coastal Areas
An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued for Orange County Coastal Areas by the NWS San Diego, effective October 4 at 11:32 AM PDT until October 8 at 8:00 PM PDT, with dangerously hot conditions expected.
Residents in Orange County Coastal Areas are urged to take immediate precautions as the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego has issued an Extreme Heat Warning, effective immediately, October 4, at 11:32 AM PDT. The warning is in effect until Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 PM PDT.
Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with high temperatures ranging from the mid-80s to low-90s at the beaches and mid-90s to around 100 degrees Fahrenheit in inland coastal areas. Overnight temperatures will also be very warm, with lows in the low to mid-70s.
The NWS warns that heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. To stay safe, residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. It is critical not to leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles, as car interiors can reach lethal temperatures rapidly. While not directly related to heat, the NWS also advises caution when driving, especially for high-profile vehicles, due to strong winds that can make driving difficult.
