Beach Hazards & Minor Coastal Flooding for San Diego and Orange Counties
A Beach Hazards Statement and Coastal Flood Advisory are in effect for San Diego and Orange County coastal areas, warning of dangerous rip currents, high surf up to 7 feet, and minor coastal flooding through Friday evening and Tuesday afternoon respectively.
Coastal residents and visitors in San Diego and Orange County coastal areas should prepare for a Beach Hazards Statement and a Coastal Flood Advisory, issued by the National Weather Service San Diego CA.
The Beach Hazards Statement is in effect through Friday evening, with surf of 3 to 5 feet and sets to 7 feet, accompanied by dangerous rip currents. The Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until 2 PM PDT Tuesday, warning of minor coastal flooding around high tides.
Impacts include potential flooding of beach parking lots, boardwalks, and roads, with isolated road closures possible. Minor coastal erosion is also expected. Elevated surf will create strong rip currents and hazardous swimming conditions.
High tides are anticipated to peak between 6.5 and 7.0 feet during morning and evening hours. Additional south swells may bring another round of elevated to high surf Sunday through Tuesday, with the highest surf expected on Sunday.
If travel is necessary, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take actions to protect flood-prone property. Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.
