An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued for the Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills, with dangerously hot temperatures expected through Thursday, October 8, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses.
Residents in the Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills are advised to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service San Diego CA. The warning is in effect from Wednesday, October 5, at 11:29 AM PDT until Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 PM PDT.
Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with high temperatures in the 90s. Nights will offer little relief, with low temperatures remaining very warm, ranging from the upper 60s to mid-70s. These conditions significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses.
To protect against the severe heat, residents are urged to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and stay out of the sun. It is crucial to check on relatives and neighbors, especially those who may be vulnerable.
A critical safety reminder: never leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles. Interior car temperatures can reach lethal levels in just minutes. The National Weather Service also notes that winds associated with this event may make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles, and advises extra caution on the roads.
