YoungArts Microgrant Program Highlights Tuba Player's Success

Since November 2018, the YoungArts Microgrants program distributes thousands of dollars monthly to support YoungArts winners with expenses related to professional or artistic development, including travel expenses to a residency, registration fees for a conference or class, the purchase of equipment, studio rental fees, and more. Since 2020, we have also offered emergency Microgrants to any artist experiencing loss of income. Whether you were a YoungArts winner in 1981 or 2026, both creative and emergency microgrants are open to award winners who have registered and completed a profile on YoungArts Post. Learn more about Microgrants here. This month, we’re highlighting tuba player Diego Jaquez (2023 Classical Music). Diego received a $3,000 microgrant from YoungArts to purchase an F Tuba. Since then, Diego has performed with the Houston Symphony and won the concerto competition at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, making him the first tuba player in school history to win. Watch the video below to learn more about how receiving a YoungArts Microgrant has impacted Diego’s musical journey.

Local Faith Community Members Attend Women's Conference in Ecuador

"A group of 130 women from the central zone of the Ecuador Sierra Centro District gathered together for a one-day conference under the theme “United with Purpose,” at the El Troje Church of the Nazarene in Riobamba in late February. The meeting featured worship, biblical reflection and sisterhood. Pastor Romina Castillo, zonal coordinator of Ministero A la Mujer (MAM), shared a challenging message highlighting the importance of growing in unity to fulfill God’s purpose for each woman. The message also reaffirmed the role of women in ministry. The program included a special time of praise, as a worship team from Pucará Church of the Nazarene led the attendees in worship. Likewise, testimonies were shared by Mónica Quispe and Angelita Samaniego, who related the transformation of their lives in Christ and encouraged those present to place their futures in the hands of the Lord. During the service, pastor Mayra Robalino, national coordinator of the MAM in Ecuador, made the announcement of the national Women’s Congress, which will take place from 15-17 May in Guano. She extended a special invitation to all attendees to this next meeting. The united worship concluded in an atmosphere of joy and companionship. According to Mónica Quispe, local MAM coordinator, this showed that the purpose of the meeting—to strengthen the unity between women from different congregations – was fulfilled. —Church of the Nazarene South America Region The post Ecuador women’s conference reinforces purpose appeared first on Church of the Nazarene."
