A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Dougherty County, with Albany residents urged to complete preparations immediately for hazardous winds, potential major flooding, and possible tornadoes. Act now to ensure safety.

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Dougherty County, effective immediately from the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee, FL, as of October 10 at 2:07 AM EDT. Residents in Albany are urged to complete preparations now as hazardous conditions are imminent. This warning expires at 10:15 AM UTC on October 10, 2026.

Forecasters anticipate winds of 10-20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, with a potential for wind speeds of 39 to 57 mph. Efforts to protect property should be underway, with limited wind damage expected to porches, awnings, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes. Expect some large tree limbs to break and isolated power/communication outages.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 1 inch of rainfall expected. There is potential for major flooding, and residents in flood-vulnerable areas should strongly consider protective actions. Evacuations and rescues are likely, and failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Heed all flood watches and warnings.

The situation is favorable for tornadoes, with potential for several tornadoes, some possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter immediately. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued. Scattered tornadoes could cause significant damage, power loss, and communications failures.
