Yulee residents and contractors will soon be submitting all building permit applications digitally as Nassau County modernizes its permitting process. Beginning January 5, 2026, the Nassau County Building Department will exclusively accept permit applications electronically via email.
This shift is a precursor to the launch of Accela Citizen Access (ACA), the county's official Online Permit Portal, slated for the spring of 2026. The ACA portal aims to streamline the process for property owners, applicants, and interested parties by allowing them to submit applications for Building, Planning, Development Services, and Storm Water permits online. Users will also be able to access existing permit records, pay fees electronically, and track application statuses.
The early transition to email-only submissions starting January 5, 2026, is designed to help customers acclimate to digital submittals before the full ACA platform goes live later in the year. All Building Department applications, including Building Permits, Conditional Use Permits, Development Plans, Sign Permits, and Tentative Maps and Plans, must adhere to the electronic submittal procedures. Applications that do not meet these guidelines may be rejected, potentially delaying processing.
Owner/Builder applicants will submit their applications online but must still appear in person to sign the Owner/Builder Disclosure Statement. The Nassau County Building Department is located at 96161 Nassau Place, Yulee, FL 32097.
The department expressed appreciation for the community's patience and cooperation during this transition. Staff are committed to assisting residents and resolving any issues that may arise as the county moves toward a more efficient, user-friendly permitting system. This transition is authorized under Florida Statute 553.79 (1) (b) and (d).
For questions regarding electronic submittal requirements, residents can contact the Building Department via email at [email protected].
