Nassau County Wetlands & Wildlife Conservation Programs
Nassau County is acquiring and managing critical lands to protect blackwater rivers, wetlands, maritime forests, and marshes across the region, including areas around Yulee.
The Conservation Lands Acquisition and Management (CLAM) Program uses a ranking system to prioritize properties based on habitat value, water quality protection, working lands potential, and public recreation access. The Atlantic to Okefenokee (A2O) initiative preserves ecological connectivity between the Okefenokee Swamp and the Atlantic coast, creating habitat for diverse species and providing natural flood protection.
Nassau County plans to establish a central hub offering meeting materials, maps, reports, and public participation opportunities as the programs expand.
