Freeze Warning Issued for Siskiyou County: Protect Plants Now

Residents in Western, Central, and South Central Siskiyou County must take immediate steps to protect sensitive outdoor plants. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Medford, Oregon, has issued a Freeze Warning effective until 8:00 AM PDT on Sunday, October 11th, and a second warning until 9:00 AM PDT on Monday, October 11th.
Sub-freezing temperatures are expected, with lows of 28 degrees Fahrenheit anticipated Sunday morning and lows of 27 degrees Fahrenheit on Monday morning. These conditions pose a threat to crops and other tender vegetation.
Affected areas include the valleys of western and central Siskiyou County, specifically the Shasta Valley, Scott Valley, and portions of the lower Klamath River Valley. Mount Shasta City and areas to its east are also included in the warning.
The NWS advises residents to take action now to protect tender plants from the cold temperatures. Ensure any vulnerable vegetation is covered or brought indoors to prevent damage or loss.
