Western Siskiyou County residents should seek shelter indoors immediately due to a strong thunderstorm identified by Doppler radar. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Medford, OR, issued a Special Weather Statement at 5:20 PM PDT, effective until 5:45 PM PDT.

The storm, located nine miles east of Dillon Creek Campground and 13 miles south of Happy Camp, is nearly stationary. Hazards include winds in excess of 30 mph, heavy rain, and half-inch hail. The NWS warns that gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is also possible.

Heavy rainfall associated with this storm may lead to localized flooding of smaller drainages. Do not drive vehicles across flooded roadways. This storm is expected to remain over mainly rural areas of western Siskiyou County.
