Residents in Western, Central, and South Central Siskiyou County are advised to take immediate action to protect sensitive plants from freezing temperatures. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Medford, Oregon, has issued a Freeze Warning, effective until Monday morning.
Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 degrees Fahrenheit are expected this morning, October 11, until 8 AM PDT. A second Freeze Warning will be in effect from 2 AM to 9 AM PDT on Monday, October 12, with temperatures expected to drop as low as 27 degrees Fahrenheit.
Areas affected include the valleys of western and central Siskiyou County, specifically the Shasta Valley, Scott Valley, and portions of the lower Klamath River Valley. Mount Shasta City and areas to its east are also included in this warning.
These frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. The NWS recommends taking steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.
