Freeze Watch for Siskiyou County: Protect Plants This Weekend
A Freeze Watch has been issued for Western, Central, and South Central Siskiyou County from late Saturday night through Sunday morning, with sub-freezing temperatures threatening sensitive vegetation. Residents should protect plants immediately.
Residents in Western, Central, and South Central Siskiyou County should take immediate steps to protect tender plants from freezing temperatures. The National Weather Service (NWS) Medford has issued a Freeze Watch effective from late Saturday night, October 10th, through Sunday morning, October 11th.
Sub-freezing temperatures between 28 and 32 degrees Fahrenheit are possible. This watch includes valleys in western and central Siskiyou County, specifically the Shasta Valley, Scott Valley, and portions of the lower Klamath River Valley. Mount Shasta City and areas to its east are also affected.
The NWS warns that these frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. The Freeze Watch was issued on October 9th at 8:30 PM PDT and remains in effect until October 11th at 8:00 AM PDT.
