Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Madison & Yazoo Counties, Seek Shelter Now
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Madison and Yazoo Counties until 8:15 PM CDT, with hazards including 60 mph winds and quarter-sized hail. Seek immediate shelter.
Residents in parts of Madison and Yazoo Counties are advised to seek immediate shelter as a Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Jackson MS.
The warning is in effect until 8:15 PM CDT today, September 21, 2026. As of 7:38 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Flora, approximately 11 miles northwest of Gluckstadt, moving southeast at 10 mph.
The NWS reports that the storm brings hazards of 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail. Radar has indicated these conditions.
Impacts are expected to include hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. The severe storm is anticipated to be near Flora around 7:45 PM CDT.
For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building immediately.
