Yancey County student gets a closer look at the river (8019706322)
Each year, the Toes in the Toe Discovery program brings nearly every 5th grade student in North Carolina’s Yancey and Mitchell counties out to a river in their community - Mitchell County students visit the North Toe River, while Yancey County students visit the South Toe River. The students rotate through a number of stations, including collecting stream invertebrates, discussing watershed health, and exploring rivers through art.
