Chairman Duffy started his career in the fire service as a volunteer firefighter with the Hagerman Fire Department which is located in Long Island New York in 1981 and was a member until his move to Naples in September 1985. After moving to Naples, he immediately became a volunteer firefighter with both the East Naples and Marco Island Fire Departments. He volunteered with them until his appointment as a firefighter with the City of Naples Fire Department in June 1986. He was employed with the City of Naples until July 1989, when he was appointed to the North Naples Fire Department. He worked for the North Naples Fire Department, which became North Collier Fire Rescue in 2015 until his retirement in June 2019, completing 30 years of service and retiring as a Battalion Chief. He has an AS Degree in Fire Science Technology, certifications as a Florida State Emergency Medical Technician, Pump Operator, Fire Officer II, Fire Inspector II, and Fire Instructor II.

"NOTICE OF CITY OF LAKE WALES INTENT TO ENACT ORDINANCE 2024-30 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Lake Wales, Florida, intends to enact Ordinance 2024-30, which amends the City’s Land Development Regulations (LDRs) to revise Section 4.02.03, Accessory Uses. The proposed ordinance relates to the keeping of chickens and fowl as an accessory use in residential zoning districts. A public hearing on Ordinance 2024-30 will be held before the City Commission on June 18, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. in the City Commission Chambers, City Administration Building, 201 West Central Avenue, Lake Wales, Florida, 33853. All interested parties may appear at the meeting and be heard with respect to the proposed ordinance. The proposed ordinance may be inspected by the public at the City Clerk’s Office in the City Administration Building, 201 West Central Avenue, Lake Wales, Florida, 33853, during regular business hours, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The proposed ordinance is also available on the City’s website at www.cityoflakewales.com. All persons are advised that, if they decide to appeal any decision made at the above-stated hearing, they will need a record of the proceedings and, for such purpose, may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 286.26, Florida Statutes, persons with disabilities needing a special accommodation to participate in this proceeding should contact the City Clerk’s Office no later than 48 hours prior to the proceeding at (863) 677-3775."
