April 22, 2026 Mail Update
While preparing for the upcoming Primary Election, my office is addressing an issue where our shared print vendor sent communications from El Dorado County to Trinity County voters. This additional communication will not impact the voters; however, it does provide additional information about how to sign up to track your ballot. Eligible voters should expect to receive their County Voter Information Guide and their ballot during the week of May 4th. Voters can review their voter status on the California Secretary of State's website. https://voterstatus.sos.ca.gov/ Again, I want to reassure the community we have addressed the problem and have worked with our vendor to ensure all eligible voters will receive their County Voter Information Guide and Vote by Mail ballot timely and correctly. We want to encourage voters to be prepared for the upcoming election and to create a plan for voting and returning their ballot by 8pm on Election Day. Duties & Responsibilities
The Elections Office is a division of the county Clerk's Office, and is run by the county clerk. The Elections Office performs duties as mandated by state, federal, and local laws. Listed here are some of the many duties the Elections Office is responsible for:
- Registering voters and maintaining the voter registration files
- Administering and conducting all federal, state, county, school district, special district, and municipal elections
- Providing voter registration information and related materials to candidates and campaigns
- Procuring all polling places and recruiting all poll workers in Trinity County
- Acting as filing officer for campaign disclosure and statements of economic interests as provided by state and local laws
Use the California Voter Status website to check if and where you are registered to vote, what your political party preference is, and your language preference for election materials. You may also check your Voter Status by calling the Trinity County Elections Office at 530-623-1220. If you have moved, changed your name or political party affiliation you should re-register to vote.
