The school district announced the donation on social media, stating, "GloRilla pulled up to Cordova High School for Homecoming and turned the whole place ALL THE WAY UP. And she didn’t just pull up… she showed LOVE to the seniors with a $25,000 gift!" The post highlighted the artist's impactful presence during a major annual event.
GloRilla, whose real name is Gloria Woods, explained the donation stemmed from her desire to give back to the community that influenced her. She had been seeking opportunities to contribute when she received an invitation from Coach Barnes to attend homecoming. "You know, I’ve been blessed with God. He’s showed his favor over my life, and I feel like I’m in a happy space in my life, and I just want to bless other people," GloRilla said. The timing felt perfect for her philanthropic goals.
The artist saw supporting Cordova High as a natural fit. "It’s so crazy because I had been looking for a way to give back, and I said, ‘That’s perfect,'" she explained. "And I said, ‘Yeah, I’m going to come, and do y’all need anything?'" GloRilla intends to make annual contributions, stating, "I try to make it my mission to do this every year. I missed out last year, but I’m back."
GloRilla, known for hits like "F.N.F. (Let’s Go)" and projects "Anyways, Life’s Great…" and "Glorious," consistently emphasizes her Memphis roots. Her visit and donation provide the school with needed resources and offer an inspiring example of generosity to students. The event allowed students to connect with a successful artist who shares their community background during a memorable homecoming celebration.
