The Broward Sheriff's Office Communications Division is seeking public input as it works to maintain accreditation from the Commission on Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). Residents can provide feedback on the division's performance and practices. This input is crucial for identifying areas of improvement and ensuring the highest standards in emergency and non-emergency dispatch services across Broward County.
Residents should call 9-1-1 for life-threatening emergencies. For non-emergency situations, the Broward County Regional Communications Non-Emergency Number is (954) 764-HELP (4357). The BSO also offers a Text to 911 service for situations where a voice call is not possible. When using Text to 911, users must send messages in English without abbreviations or slang, and should not include pictures, video, emojis, or group texts.
Citizens can submit feedback through the CALEA public portal via a provided link. The Broward Sheriff's Office states that public comment is vital to its commitment to excellence and meeting CALEA's rigorous requirements.
