Wilton Manors City Commissioners convened Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, approving grants, environmental projects and proposed land use changes.

Broward County Commissioner Richard Waltzer presented a $50,000 grant check to the Waterway Main Vessel. The Florida Inland Navigation District funds will benefit Wilton Manors.

Commissioners endorsed applications for Florida Department of Environmental Protection grants to fund the Lift Station No. 5 Relocation and Flood Resilience Project, and the Stafford Park Nature-Based Shoreline and Living Seawall Project. The city committed to a 50 percent cost share for the lift station project.

The commission also approved an agreement with Kailas Corp. for the NW 3rd Avenue Drainage Improvements Project, repealing a previous resolution. Commissioners authorized city officials to execute a consent order with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection related to OGC File No. 26-0251.

Broward County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn and Chief of Staff John J. Sullivan presented an informational update on the Next Generation Referendum. The commission approved the FY 2026-2027 Annual Public Art Project Plan and a Special Event Permit for the Fort Lauderdale Front Runners 5K.

Two ordinances advanced. Ordinance No. 2026-016, on first reading, proposes amendments to the Unified Land Development Regulations for Urban Center Mixed-Use Districts. Ordinance No. 2026-017, on second reading, would amend the ULDR by modifying Section 010-030, which defines terms.

Commissioners also conducted a first reading for Ordinance No. 2026-019, approving the First Amendment to the Franchise Agreement with Coastal Waste & Recycling of Florida, Inc. for solid waste and recycling services. Resolution No. 2026-060, an agreement with 7 Sun Media, LLC for public sidewalk recycling receptacles, was also presented.
