Coastal Levy County faces a potential life-threatening storm surge of up to 4 feet due to Tropical Storm Isaias, prompting a Storm Surge Watch and calling for immediate preparedness actions.

Coastal Levy County residents should prepare immediately for potential life-threatening storm surge. The National Weather Service (NWS) Tampa Bay Ruskin FL issued a Tropical Cyclone Local Statement at 11:09 PM EDT on October 7, indicating a Storm Surge Watch is in effect for Coastal Levy due to Tropical Storm Isaias.

While tropical storm force winds are not expected, storm surge of up to 4 feet is possible along the coast from the Suwannee River to Yankeetown. This could lead to significant impacts, including inundation, damage to buildings, weakened or washed-out roads, major beach erosion, and damage to marinas and docks. A Coastal Flood Advisory is also in effect from Yankeetown to Egmont Key from Friday at 8 AM to Saturday at 8 AM.

Residents in affected areas must follow the advice of local officials regarding evacuations. Check your emergency plan and supplies kit, and take necessary actions to protect your family and property. Closely monitor weather.gov, NOAA Weather Radio, and local news for official storm information and possible forecast changes. Additional preparedness resources are available at ready.gov, getagameplan.org, and redcross.org.

The next NWS update is expected around 5 AM EDT, or sooner if conditions warrant.
