PIKE COUNTY, GA – October 9, 2026 – The National Weather Service (NWS) Peachtree City has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Pike County, effective immediately and expiring at 7:30 PM UTC today. Zebulon is specifically affected by this warning. Tropical storm-force winds are expected within the next 36 hours.

Residents should prepare for significant potential impacts from flooding rain and tornadoes. A Flood Watch is in effect, with 3-6 inches of rain anticipated, and locally higher amounts possible. This could lead to moderate flooding, prompting evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries may swell, and small streams could overflow. Floodwaters may enter structures and cause hazardous driving conditions. Heed all flood watches and warnings.

Conditions are also favorable for several tornadoes, with a few potentially intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should seek safe shelter before hazardous weather arrives. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued. Scattered tornadoes could cause damage to roofs, mobile homes, and large trees, leading to power and communication failures.

The NWS forecasts peak winds of 10-20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph for Pike County. While the sustained wind is expected to remain below tropical storm force, gusty conditions are possible. Little to no preparations are needed for wind at this time, but ensure emergency readiness should the forecast change.
